Woman's Missionary Union of Mechanicsville Baptist Church
(WMU)

Our WMU has a long and involved history of missions. Our historical record of the church states that ladies from our church were present when the WMU of Virginia was organized. We have excellent working relationships with our Virginia State WMU and our National WMU. We strive to minister to people locally and around the world with our mission offerings and mission projects.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.”  Matthew 28: 19- 20

Over the years the church has approved the following offerings and encourages our congregation to support them (You can click on each individual mission to go to their website):

Lottie Moon Christmas offering for International Missions.

Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Offering for Global Missions.

Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions.

Goshen Association Offering for Missions in our local area.

Alma Hunt State Missions Offering for Virginia State Missions.

We provide videos, speakers and/or printed material to inform our members about how the funds are used to spread the gospel and support many acts of kindness to those who need our love and support.

Then the righteous will answer Him, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?”  The King will reply, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these my brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25: 37-40

Over the years we have participated in many mission projects and we are able to make arrangements to provide support in emergency situations.  Some of the projects we have supported:  WMU National Project Hope, hygiene bags for various groups, baby layettes, hats and scarves for international seamen, Goshen Stitchers, Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes, Stop Hunger Now, Hope for Appalachia, The Paul Stefan FoundationThe Journey Homefood collection, various items for schools, and many other various projects.

We request everyone to pray for our missionaries and their families. They face many obstacles as they share the gospel with others, and they always request prayer.

We meet every third Thursday at our church social hall at 2:00 PM. All are welcome to come and join us for a time of prayer, devotional reading, mission updates and business.
